ITAR Compliance
ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) is a Federal classification system used to control and monitor the import and export of defense-related articles and services cited on the United States Munitions List (USML). While QMS does not directly contract with the Federal government, QMS exerts every effort to ensure the fullest possible compliance regarding the Arms Export Control Act (Title 22, U.S.C., Sec 2751, et seq.), the Export Administration Act of 1979 (Title 50, U.S.C., App. 2401 et seq), and disseminate requirements in accordance with provisions of DoD Directive 5230.25.
ITAR regulations are enforced by the Department of Homeland Security. At a minimum, ITAR requires that any exposure to ITAR classified product, documentation, or any other commodity specific support material can only be viewed by a U.S. Citizen or a valid green card holder. Foreign nationals or individuals outside of this definition are restricted.
Every employee must understand the critical importance regarding nondisclosure of controlled technical data and demonstrate this commitment through every ITAR related involvement. All ITAR subjected documentation is clearly marked with ITAR identification status. QMS shall provide sufficient training to understand ITAR requirements and expected treatment. If uncertain of any activity relative to the ITAR policy or potential ITAR violations, contact your immediate supervisor or quality assurance for further direction.
